Editorial policy
Independence is a process, not a claim. This page describes the process precisely enough that you can catch us breaking it.
AI-assistance disclosure
Drafting is AI-assisted. Every published claim is human-verified against the linked source before it ships, the founder reads each batch aloud and rewrites at least a fifth of the sentences, and errors are logged publicly on /corrections. We would rather say that plainly than let you guess.
Nothing on this site is bulk-generated from a template with one variable swapped. Where a page would only differ from its neighbour by a ticker, we do not publish it — see the indexing rule below.
How a page gets written
- The claim comes from our own dataset or a primary document — an attestation, a fee schedule, a regulator filing. Aggregator numbers are labelled as such.
- A draft is written against those sources, with the as-of date inline rather than in a footnote.
- The founder reads it aloud, cuts what a template could have produced, and adds at least one observation from actually using the product.
- It ships with a byline, a review date and, where fees or reserves are involved, a note saying when they were last re-verified.
Cadence and dates
New answers and research ship in batches of five a week at most, each byline-reviewed. Nothing is bulk-dropped. Visible “Updated” dates and sitemap lastmod values change only when substance changes — a typo fix, a styling change or a re-render does not move a date. Freshness labels read from the payload timestamp, so a stale cache says stale.
What we refuse to publish
- Pages whose only value is the template. Entity pages that merely mirror a public registry are noindexed until they carry something of ours: a linked wallet, a claimed record, or a cross-link from our product datasets.
- Price predictions, and any “best of” list ordered by commission.
- Sponsored posts. Partner links exist, are labelled, and never affect ordering — the full accounting is on how we make money.
- Fabricated credibility: no “as seen in” badge appears unless the coverage is real and linkable.
Scores and their versions
Scoring rules are versioned. The live model is v1.3, published 2026-08-19. When weights or exclusions change, the change is logged with a date and the reason, so a score that moved can be traced to a rule rather than to a conversation.
Corrections
Found something wrong? Mail corrections@usd.net with the page URL and a source. Material errors are fixed and logged with a date and a description of what was wrong — including the ones nobody would have noticed.
If reviews ever launch
Card and neobank user reviews are not live. The policy is pre-committed anyway: reviews will require a described verification signal, the moderation rules will be published before the first review appears, companies may respond but can never pay to remove, and every edit to a review stays visible. Policy first, reviews second.
