Same exposure, every rail

Pick what you want to own, then compare every way to own it — a broker in New York, a UCITS fund in Dublin, a token on Solana. Identical price exposure, very different objects: different costs, different hours, different legal claims, and different answers to the question of who is allowed to buy.

S&P 500

Own the 500 largest US listed companies

The most commoditised exposure in finance. The index is the same everywhere, so the only differences are cost, ownership structure, trading hours and who is allowed to buy.

Short-dated US Treasuries

Earn the risk-free rate on dollars

The exposure that made tokenization real. The same T-bills sit behind an ETF at a broker, a direct purchase at TreasuryDirect, and a token on Ethereum — and the yield you keep differs by rail.

Gold

Own an ounce of gold

Gold is the oldest exposure and the clearest test of the question this table asks: what do you actually own? A vault receipt, a fund unit, a token claim, or the metal itself.

Why this table exists

Comparison sites price brokers against brokers and tokens against tokens, so the interesting question never gets asked: for a given exposure, which rail is actually better for you? The answer is rarely uniform. A US resident buying the S&P 500 should almost always use a broker. Someone in Buenos Aires who cannot open one should probably not pretend the token rail is unsafe — it is the only rail they have. What matters is seeing both sets of tradeoffs in the same row height, which is what these pages do.
